Welcome to our shop

Below:                         View of our West Maitland

Street shop.

We are now in the garden basement of this building. Entrance by stairs at

5a Grosvenor Street, around the corner.

We are an established company that was started in 1946 by Hugh Macpherson and is still run by the same family. Alison Adamson-Ross is Hugh’s eldest Grandaughter, daughter of Jean. Many of our customers are having adult Kilts made, having had Children's sizes in the past - some even for their Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren! We keep photographs of many happy customers and  friends over the last half-Century on the walls of our shop to share with visitors. We also have our Celebrity photographs on show from, the beautiful Julia Roberts, Michael Caine, Roger Moore and Ray Davies to name a few.

Our own Kiltmakers make Kilts, Skirts and piper’s or drummer’s Plaids.  We proudly make complete Uniforms for Regimental and Police Pipe Bands, as well as Bands in the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and North America. We are currently making kilts for a Scottish Highland Dance group in Argentina and all the kilts for the Bo’ness Pipe Band here in Scotland.

You are sure of a warm welcome when you visit us. Maybe we will find your name has Scottish connections and be able to tell you a little about it. We are only a short walk from Princes Street and the Castle. We could even be described as Edinburgh’s best kept secret!
